Interview With Model/Photographer Hanneli Mustaparta
Model and photographer Hanneli Mustaparta gives us the hot tips of how to live life as a jet setter, splitting her time between Norway and New York. I met Hanneli on Bleeker street outside of the Marc Jacobs store, where we were both taking street style shots (for my own Advanced Style site and her Lola.no site). Hanneli is one of the most gorgeous women I know, living the life of a successful model/photographer, and still managing to stay down to earth.
How long have you been New York and what part of town do you live in ?
I moved to New York in 2004 and lived here for a year. Then I went back to Norway for a week just to see my family before going to Milan for work. While home I met the guy that a month later would be my boyfriend , and the love of my life. Now we have been together for 3.5 years, so I moved back home and took a break from modeling and started studying. More »

“Best $2k I Ever Spent!” Nicky Digital’s Adventures In Iceland

[All photos by Nicky Digital]
At Paper Magazine’s best of NYC Nightlife awards last Sunday, the GofG’s table was directly next to Nicholas Rhodes table (of Nicky Digital). It was an honor to meet the popular photographer who took home the award later that night. Nicholas had just returned from, what looked to be, an incredibly adventurous trip to Iceland. With album names like “Casual Reykjavik @ Kitty Von-Sometime’s” and “Supper at Vid Tjornina” we were in for a treat.

The Metal Ball Rolls Into NYC
This past Saturday, art and jewelry lovers alike gathered at the Cedar Lake performance space for the most creative and energetic party I have been to in awhile… The Metal Ball! RoseLee Goldberg, the founder of Performa (the first non-for-profit performance art foundation) hosted this amazing event, cocktails compliments of Campari to raise money for her organization. This also marked the closing of the pop-up store organized by the beautiful Yvette Tang which set up shop in the lower level of Issey Miyake’s TriBeCa store, selling designs from Tuleste Market, Audrey Werner, Darcy Miro, Nun, Deka Ray, Digby and Iona, Dahl by Alison Kelly, Bario-Neal, Prismera, Made By Eugene and t-shirt designs from Brooklynite Jason Laurits.

Bad style was checked at the door on Monday as the who’s who of the fashion obsessed were on deck for The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue Fashion Fund’s fifth anniversary celebration dinner gala at New York’s Skylight Studios. Designer-studded celebrities aside, Alexander Wang was the real star being recognized for his outstanding excellence in design and contribution to American fashion and awarded the fifth CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund recipient joining past winners Rogan and Proenza Schouler. With a panel of judges including Anna Wintour, CFDA’s president Diane von Furstenberg, Gap’s Patrick Robinson, and Barneys New York’s Julie Gilhart, Wang’s win surely goes above and beyond any other fashion nod.

Gourmet Evening At Shang With Susur Lee

[Photos by ERIKA SKOGG for PMc]
The Lower East Side gets another new restaurant! Canadian celebrity chef Susur Lee, best known for his Asian and European fusion food, gave us a taste last night of his stateside debut Shang. Located at the Thompson LES Hotel on Orchard St, the space is set to officially open in December (after a much anticipated waiting), and will feature what Lee refers to as “global Chinese” cuisine. Last night’s sneak peak was hosted by Gourmet magazine, and attended by New York restaurant heavyweights like Tom Colicchio, Daniel Boulod, and Bobby Flay. Everything looked delicious, and we can’t wait to see the finished product in a few weeks.
Go HERE to see NY Mag’s Grub Street list of all Lee’s hors d’oeuvres and HERE for Eater’s walk through.
